The Kruger National Park was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park of nearly 2 million hectares. The Kruger National Park is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals.

The best time of the year for a Kruger Park safari during the winter months of April to September, as water is restricted to rivers and waterholes, visibility is also good as the vegetation is less dense. Summer from October to March is often hot and humid due to the rains, birding is excellent and wildlife viewing is good in the early morning and late afternoon. November and December are the calving month.
