Central Sailing Safari

SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS:
5 night live-aboard sailing safari, along the central region of Lake Malawi's coastline. The yacht Mufasa is a 10 berth, 38 foot Maxim catamaran, designed by Alexander Simonis. She is powered by 2 x 27hp Yanmar diesel engines and has a sail area of 85 sq meters. Mast height 17 meters, draft 800mm and beam width 6.3 meters

Departure: Daily.
Duration: 6 Days / 5 Nights.
Accommodation: Safari lodges.
Group Size: Minimum 2, Maximum 8.
Note: Travel insurance is compulsory for all safaris.

DAY 1: DANFORTH LODGE
» From Lilongwe, road transfer to Senga Bay
» The yacht will be anchored in a sheltered bay at Senga Bay awaiting guests arrival
» Set sail across to Cape Maclear
» Dinner and overnight at Danforth Yachting Luxury Lodge

DAY 2: CHIOFU BAY
» Load up the yacht and set sail to Chiofu Bay on the Eastern shores of Lake Malawi
» Beautiful, remote, sheltered bay
» A great anchorage
» Good fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving
» Go on shore for a beach barbeque under the African stars
» Overnight on "Mufasa" at anchor in the bay

DAY 3: NKHOTAKOTA
» Take a nature walk before breakfast
» Superb views over the lake
» Have a refreshing swim followed by a hearty breakfast
» Up anchor and set sail towards Nkotakota. Safe overnight anchorage
» Largest traditional village in Malawi
» Interesting history in the slave trade
» Dinner and overnight on board the yacht

DAY 4: BANDAWE POINT
» After breakfast sail north to Bandawe point
» Go on shore and stretch legs
» Sundowners in the bar at Makuzi Beach lodge, overlooking the lake
» Dinner at Makuzi Beach
» Overnight on board "Mufasa" at anchor in the bay

DAY 5: CHIZIMULU ISLAND
» Sail across to Chizimulu Island and then onto Likoma Island
» Enjoy fishing, diving and snorkeling around these islands
» Go for a walk around Chizimulu Island
» Have a drink in the unique bar-in-the-baobab tree
» Dinner and overnight on board

DAY 6: END OF SAFARI
» Visit the sights of Likoma Island
» Take a walk through the cobbled market square and be led on a tour of the magnificent St. Pauls Cathedral
» Enjoy the culture and history Likoma Island has to offer
» Bid the yacht farewell as crew set sail back south
» Guests take a charter flight from Likoma Island to Lilongwe
